Transformation of the Day: Iris lost 61 pounds. After she got divorced, she began to focus on self-love, fitness, and her health overall. Intermittent fasting and tracking her food intake are two of the main tools she used as she made her health a top priority.

After my divorce, I began a journey of self-love. By practicing intermittent fasting and going to the gym, I was able to lose 60+ pounds. It’s hard for me to look at my before pictures, but I’m so proud of my progress.

What inspired you to keep going, even when you wanted to give up?
When my relationship ended. I wasn’t distracted anymore. I learn to love myself and focus on things that are best for me. I wanted to make sure that I was ok. That includes taking care of my health. I only had myself to depend on, and giving up wasn’t an option. 

How did you change your eating habits?
I began internment fasting. I ate around my work lunch schedule and stopped eating after 10 pm. I was also counting my calorie intake.

What did your workout routine consist of? How often did you work out?
After losing 20 pounds, I began working out with a trainer twice a week. I also started using the stairs more often and tracking my steps. I took any opportunity to be more active.

What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
My highest known weight is 270 pounds, and my current weight is 209 pounds.

What is your height?
I’m 5’6″. 

When did you start your journey?
I started my journey in Summer 2020 (July/August).

How long did your transformation take?
It took about three months.

Is weight loss surgery part of your journey?
No, but I went to many consultations. I thought surgery was the only way I could lose weight, but that wasn’t true for me.

What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far?
I learned how to be conscious about what I’m eating. I also learned to do some kind of physical activity daily.

What advice would you like to share with women who want to lose weight?
I believe it will happen for you when you decide you need this change. It won’t work until it becomes a personal mission. This process is very personal.
