What was your motivation? What inspired you to keep going, even when you wanted to give up?
My motivation is my daughter. As a mother and educator/coach, I know that children do as you do, not as you say. So I have to be a role model for my daughter, my girls (cheer squad), and my babies (my students). They are the ones that keep me going. I also joined a workout challenge with my Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc sisters.

In addition, my trainer/nutritionist, Terry Starks (aka. The Diet Doctor), sends daily inspirational messages that keep me motivated tremendously. I needed that daily push.

How did you change your eating habits?
All the credit goes to Terry in this area. I knew I wasn’t eating enough to lose weight but had no clue what to eat or where to begin. He took the guessing out of everything. To get my individualized plan each week was amazing. He even sent them early so I would have enough time to shop on weekends. One thing that I stopped eating was cheese. I don’t miss it at all now.

What did your workout routine consist of? How often did you work out?
My workout routine consisted mainly of cardio. I did a lot of walking and using my Black Girls Workout Videos. Recently, I also started using Effect Fitness workouts again.

What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
Starting weight: 201 pounds
Current weight: 171 pounds

What is your height?

When did you start your journey? How long did your transformation take?
I started my journey towards the end of April. I saw changes within 35 days of being on the program. I kept going thru week 7 (which is the picture on the right).

Is weight loss surgery part of your journey?
No, I want a lifestyle change. Proper nutrition and exercise is the only 100% way to keep going.

What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far?
I learned that God had already equipped me to do it. I just had to get my mindset right. Once you renew your mindset, your life CHANGES! I also learned that it is okay to ask for help. I am forever grateful for Terry Starks.

What advice do you have for women who want to lose weight?
The best advice I could give is to pray, change your mindset, ask for help, and definitely give my coach a try. Every day that you say you can’t, you could have started!
