What was your motivation? What inspired you to keep going, even when you wanted to give up?
Nine years after two c-sections and a couple of failed attempts at losing weight, I had a complete mindset change. I gained more weight during the lockdown and didn’t feel good looking in the mirror. It wasn’t until My daughter (who is now seven years old) inspired me to lose weight! She noticed my weight gain and wouldn’t stop talking about it! I had to make a change!

How did you change your eating habits?
I followed the Keto diet and maintained a calorie deficit for seven months with no cheat days. Intermittent fasting was also part of my routine 4-5 days a week. I used My Fitness Pal to log every meal and what I drank. I drank water and herbal tea only. I stopped eating dairy products and switched to plant-based milk.

A friend who is a fitness trainer gave me guidance on my calorie intake, but I still kept below suggested numbers for a while. I had to be creative with my snacks to meet my nutritional requirements while maintaining a low-calorie diet.

What did your workout routine consist of? How often did you work out?
I started running in June 2020 (More like sprint intervals). For six months straight, I ran three times a week with an average of 45 minutes per run. I believe sprint intervals helped me firm up my thighs and lose weight each week. I have now moved on to strength training with less cardio.

What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
My starting weight was 74.3 kg/164 pounds. My current weight is 63.5 kg/140 pounds.

What is your height?
I’m 1.59 m/5’2″.

When did you start your journey? How long did your transformation take?
I started during the lockdown in June 2020. I was losing 1 kg every week. It took me three months to reach my goal of 63kg, and I have maintained this weight till now.

Is weight loss surgery part of your journey?
No.

What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far?
I have learned the power of the mind. I believe mindset change must take place first before you can embark on a weight loss journey successfully. I now know the importance of understanding my body and doing things at my own pace while enjoying the journey.

What advice do you have for women who want to lose weight?
Remain consistent and disciplined in both diet and exercise, but the odd cheat day is permitted. Learn to enjoy your fitness routine, and you will always look forward to it
